The University at Albany is a part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system. Founded in 1844, the University at Albany is the oldest campus in the SUNY system. Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy is recognized as one of the top schools of its type in the nation and is ranked as 16th in Public Affairs by U.S. News & World Report. Strategically located in the capital of New York State, Rockefeller College provides students with numerous opportunities to study and observe government at all levels. The Rockefeller College MPA is a two-year program that can be completed on a full-time or part-time basis. Many classes are offered in the evening to accommodate working professionals.
University at Albany – Rockefeller College MPA Curriculum
The Rockefeller College MPA program is a 49 credit hour program that consists of three components. The core curriculum, which comprises 28 credits, includes courses in public management, microeconomics, analytic methods and financial management. The second component of the MPA degree consists of five elective courses selected by the student from one or more areas of concentration. The final component of the degree is an internship or career experience. Students are encouraged to gain choose internships that allow them to gain real-world experience that is aligned with their professional interests in either the public or private sector. Recent graduates have completed internships with local and state government agencies, with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the federal government, public finance organizations and leading nonprofits.

Rockefeller College offers specializations in a multiple concentration fields in order to help students reach their professional goals. Students are required to take at least five concentration courses. These courses may be chosen from multiple concentrations, with the stipulation that at least two courses from an area are completed.
